Updates - For Shaker Blvd. only: Existing PVC pipes from your house can now be connected past your driveway if the septic tank is in the front yard, but the PVC must be videoed and have no cracks or dips. And, garage drains and basement floor drains no longer must be connected to new sewer pipes. (See instructions.)

1. Site Evaluation

An in-person site evaluation is necessary to discover all obstructions and special circumstances. However, initially we can view your property via Google Earth. If your septic tank is located in your back yard and is at a lower elevation from the street, it's necessary to perform elevation measurements.  We must verify adequate slope to main sewer. It's free. (In most instances the connection at street is low enough.)

This first step may be time-consuming but necessary to provide you with an accurate price estimate and alternative options if needed.  Our pre-estimate evaluation helps us to give you the best quality work at the lowest possible price. Please schedule as soon as possible.

2. Permit Applications

Applications should be completed at your earliest convenice to avoid costly delays. Three separate applications with three different agencies are required. This process can take two to four weeks.

3. Services will be performed in order of commitment

Once you approve our Estimate / Quote / Work Order, you will be place on our work schedule.

Your Trusted Sewer Contractor & Sewer Builder

Learn all your options

If the location of your septic system makes it too difficult or costly to connect to a gravity pipe to the city sewer, you have options to consider.

1. Move interior pipes in basement to front of house to gain needed height or to avoid obstructions.

2. Use a sewage ejector pump to lift the sewage high enough to reach a gravity pipe.

3. Use a more powerful Grinder Pump to deliver sewage all the way to the vertical pipe near street.

Note - Ejector Pumps and Grinder Pumps require a thinner and more shallow trench and can push sewage up hill. (see Ejector vs Grinder Pump page.)

The Grinder Pump pipe can be installed using underground directional boring equipment to avoid the need to desturb obsticales.

How Foundation Drain Works

Your foundation drain tile is storm water which flows into storm sewer.

If you currently are not connected to a sanitary sewer system, your basement floor drain also flows into the storm sewer. This is no longer permitted.

Your basement floor drain, toilet and shower must connect to the sanitary sewer.  This may be accomplished by connecting your floor drain to your sanitary sewer.  Your sanitary sewer connection must be below the floor and foundation.  If your sanitary sewer connection is above floor/foundation level, a sump pump will be needed to pump the water up to the sanitary sewer pipe.

How Foundation Drain Tile to Sump Pump Works.

A sump pump can carry foundation water to exterior of house if the current drain tile is not flowing to storm sewer properly.

If the foundation drain tile is connected to the basement floor drain sewer pipe, they must be separated. One or the other may need to be connected to a sump pump if the sanitary sewer connection is not below the floor and foundation.

Basement Bathroom Ejector Pumps.

When the sanitary sewer pipe exits your house above floor or foundation level, the seweage must be pump up to the gavity line using an ejector or grinder pump.  When a toilet is invoved, a regular sump pump can not be used.

Air Pressure Test for Leaks

An air test is performed by plugging each end of the lateral and applying 3.5 psi to the section under test. If the loss exceeds 1/2 psi in 5 minutes the test may be attempted one additional time. The second loss of pressure of more than 1/2 psi in 5 minutes constitutes failure.
