BACK FLOW VALVES are of various quality and price. They do not all function the same. Some check valves only slow water, but some stop water almost completely.
We offer both interior and exterior solutions.
There are two types of backwater preventers which can be installed in your basement.
1) The less expensive MAINLINE 4-Inch ABS Backwater Valve. ($250 to $300) Slows water backup. With installation est. $2,000.
2) FLOOD-GATE automatic backwater valve. ( $1,900) Stops 99.9% to 100% of the backup. With installation est. $3,100.
(Can be set up with ejector pump so you can continue to use your toilets & shower during a backup event.) (Can have optional alarm.)
RECTORSEAL CLEAN CHECK ($650) With installation est. $3,100.
Installed outside near the cleanout /test tee by sidewalk or street.
Requires excavation to sewer connection near street.
*Permit fees are required.
*Prices may vary based on individual installation difficulty.

HOW TO INSPECT AND PERFORM MAINTENANCE
Check Valve do not stop 100% of the water backup
Basement floor drain goes to sanitary pipes.
Foundation drail-tile and down-spouts go to storm pipes.
However, in older homes there may be cross contamination.
SUMP PUMP MUST NOT DISCHARGE INTO FLOOR DRAIN and VICEVERSA
Compare the difference
Low volume and requires backwater preventer
Learn about cross contamination
Cross Contamination may originate from pipes in street
The extreme solution disconnects the current gravity sewer pipe between the street cleanout and your house. There can be no sanitarty sewer backup from the street because there is no pipe for the backup water to get to your house.
A Ginder Pump system is then installed. All septic waste enters the grinder pump basin where it's emulsified and discharged under pressure into the verticle stack at the street. The discharge pipe is only 1-14 inch in diameter and enters the stack at only 5 feet below ground level, at a much higher level than the extisting gravity sewer pipe, and has an inline check valve backflow preventer. (Costs range from $10,000 to $19,000.)
A similar solution can apply to the storm sewer.
